I keep this blog for friends, family and students in Japan& the U.S.

Since Spring '07, Zen and Taka moved to California full time for Zen's basketball career. I'm in California most of the time right now too. Almost every day I go to help my Grandmom. She was born in 1919. Taka and I also get to work for Uncle Lynn's landscaping company. Santa Cruz, California. As beautiful as ever. However I still feel homesick for Japan~~

Friends rice farming in Ishiki, Japan!!!

I believe this is a red variety of rice which is coming back into popularity in Japan not only esthetically, but also because of it's nutritional value.

Usually heavy equipment is used to plant the rice seedlings. But when you see the elderly with their hunched backs, this may very well be why.

Near our home town, there are these small mountains. More and more mountains are being razed to take the soil to make land out into the oceans. Or leveling them to build factories on top of.
These stand as they all should be able to.

What child wouldn't love this?!
