I keep this blog for friends, family and students in Japan& the U.S.

Since Spring '07, Zen and Taka moved to California full time for Zen's basketball career. I'm in California most of the time right now too. Almost every day I go to help my Grandmom. She was born in 1919. Taka and I also get to work for Uncle Lynn's landscaping company. Santa Cruz, California. As beautiful as ever. However I still feel homesick for Japan~~

Livermore at Positas College

Saturday September 11th eleven boys from the Santa Cruz High Basketball team went to this skills clinic where they got some time to work out with a former head coach of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, amongst others.
Players from Sacramento, Chico, the Bay area and a number of other locations took part.
In groups they broke down and worked out too.
Finally each group got to play three twenty minute games.
Santa Cruz won their first game 25-6, also the second game~29-23.
The last game was tied and went into overtime. Both teams missed numerous chances to get that first score to win the game. The other team managed to finally pull off a free shot and won.

Working Landscaping in Santa Cruz plus a little more~

One day this past week, I went to pick Taka up from working. He walked from where they were working to where I was waiting.

Now is this area not a nice work place or what?!
I actually was picking Taka up to take him to the Doctor's clinic. His fingers have gotten terribly bad. They actually pop open bleeding at times. It's too sad. Taka's hands were one thing I was so attracted to about him when I first met him. It's even painful to look at them now.

Now, as for my other boy~Zen, ha ha~~ I went to the Apple store for a lesson and the guy showed me how to change things with photos, like this below. I took this photo a year ago and had wanted to do this just for the fun of it!

Younger Bro Carl Jackson in CALIFORNIA!

Carl LOVED the vibes of the Redwoods. He had thought not many were left on the west coast?!!
We went to Henry Cowell State Park.

Carl, my little brother. 8 years younger than I. He's become one of the most insightful, sensitive people I know now. He's a musician in Nashville, Tennessee, and it had been about ten years since he was in California.
Carl, sitting there looking back at us, was able to also catch some Jazz in downtown Santa Cruz.

Grandmom and Carl never really had a chance to get to know one another before. Dad was Grandmom's firstborn. Uncle Lynn, below, he's Grandmom's second son. And then Carl is Grandmom's only grandson.
Lorraine, Lynn's wife, called us "The Jackson Four"! True, just missing sister Janet!!! (She's in Pennsylvania) Grandmom was Jane Wolstenholm, then Jane Jackson, then...well, now "Ostergren"!

Zen in Japan August 2010

At our surf shop, kayaking friends: Sayoko and Shinji Yoshizaki's house in Ishiki Japan. Shinji's in the right hand bottom corner. Sayoko's behind him. The woman with her leg up, I don't know her. The clean cut guy in the top right hand corner: Yaari.
My boy Ischin in the green T-shirt, the bleached blond's Sheon. Zen in black and Naomi in white. Oh, and behind Naomi in the photo above is her boyfriend, Isamushi.
